“Strength in Stillness”

Learning the Power of Meekness — Patience, Humility, and Surrender in God’s Hands Scripture: Matthew 5:5 (NKJV) "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."

There was a time I thought meekness meant weakness — that being quiet or gentle meant letting others take advantage of me. But as I walk with Christ, I’ve come to see that meekness is not weakness; it’s power under control.

It’s the spirit of patience, when everything in me wants to rush or react.
It’s submission, when I choose to surrender my will to God instead of insisting on my own way.
It’s humility, when I recognize that every ability, every success, and every moment of peace comes from Him alone.
And it’s abdication, when I willingly let go of my right to be right, trusting that God’s justice will prevail in His time.

Being meek doesn’t mean being silent about truth—it means responding with grace instead of anger. It’s holding my peace when I could argue, forgiving when I could resent, and trusting when I could control.

Every time I choose meekness, I feel the quiet strength of Jesus in me — the same strength that led Him to the cross without retaliation, yet in complete victory.

And there’s a promise attached to it: “They shall inherit the earth.” That inheritance isn’t just a future hope; it’s the peace and favor we experience when our hearts are aligned with God’s will.

Prayer

Lord,
Teach me to walk in true meekness — not as the world defines it, but as You lived it. Help me to control my strength with gentleness and to respond to others with patience and humility.
When I’m tempted to fight for my own way, remind me that surrender to You is never a loss but a victory in Your eyes.
Fill me with Your peace, and let Your meek and gentle heart shine through mine.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:
True strength is found not in fighting to be seen or heard, but in quietly trusting the One who sees and knows all.
