“Keep Your Lamps Burning: Be Ready for the Bridegroom’s Coming”
This devotion on Matthew 25:1–13 reminds us to stay spiritually prepared for Christ’s return. Like the wise virgins who kept their lamps burning, we are called to remain faithful, watchful, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Let’s not be caught unready when the Bridegroom arrives — may our lives shine brightly in anticipation of His coming.

Today's Reading:
📖 Scripture:
Matthew 25:13 (NKJV)
"Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."
Observation:
Jesus tells the parable of ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom. Five were wise and brought extra oil for their lamps, while five were foolish and did not. When the bridegroom delayed, all became drowsy and slept. At midnight, a cry announced His coming. The foolish virgins, unprepared, went to buy oil but returned to find the door shut. The bridegroom said, “I do not know you.”
This parable reminds us to be spiritually prepared for Christ’s return. The oil represents a living faith, obedience, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. The delay of the bridegroom shows that while Jesus’ coming may seem delayed, His return is certain and will happen at an unexpected hour.
Application:
We are reminded to keep our spiritual lamps burning by staying close to God through prayer, reading His Word, and living in obedience. It is not enough to simply know about Jesus; we must be continually filled with His Spirit. We should live each day ready for His coming, avoiding complacency and distractions that can make us spiritually unprepared. Let us encourage one another to stay watchful and faithful until He returns.
🙏Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help us to remain watchful and prepared for Your return. Keep our hearts burning with Your love and truth. Fill us daily with Your Holy Spirit, so we may not grow weary or careless in our walk with You. When You come, may we be found ready, faithful, and full of Your light. Amen.
