“Building on the Rock”

Today, Matthew 7 has been speaking deeply to my heart. It’s a reminder that hearing God’s Word isn’t enough — I need to live it, walk it, and let it shape my choices every day. Jesus calls us to take the narrow path, to forgive, to pray with faith, and to love others the way we want to be loved. Life’s storms will always come, but when my foundation is Christ, I know I can stand firm. Obedience isn’t always easy, but it’s the only way to build a life that lasts. #FaithJourney #Matthew7 #BuildOnTheRock #SermonOnTheMount #DailyDevotion #WalkingWithJesus #FaithOverFear #ChristianReflection

Scripture:
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Matthew 7:24 (NKJV)

Observation:

In Matthew 7, Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount with powerful teachings that guide us in living a life pleasing to God. He warns against judging others hypocritically, encourages persistent prayer, commands us to treat others as we wish to be treated, and calls us to choose the narrow path of obedience.

He reminds us that not everyone who calls Him “Lord” truly belongs to Him — only those who do the will of the Father. The parable of the wise and foolish builders illustrates this truth: hearing His Word is not enough; obedience is what builds a strong foundation. When life’s storms come, only those rooted in Christ will stand firm.

Application:

Matthew 7 challenges me to examine the foundation of my life. Am I merely listening to God’s Word, or am I applying it daily? True wisdom is shown in obedience — forgiving others, praying with faith, living humbly, and walking in discernment.

The narrow road may be hard, but it leads to eternal life. Each act of obedience, each prayer of trust, each moment of humility strengthens my foundation in Christ. I want my life to be built not on emotions or appearances, but on the solid rock of God’s Word.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your Word that teaches me how to live wisely and walk in truth. Help me not just to hear but to obey. Teach me to build my life on You — the unshakable Rock. Guard my heart from hypocrisy, pride, and worldly shortcuts. Give me discernment to walk the narrow path that leads to life.
May my faith stand firm in every storm, reflecting Your love, humility, and truth.
In Your name, I pray. Amen.
